Clemente Gaddi

Clemente Gaddi (born December 23, 1901 in Mandello del Lario , † November 7, 1993 ) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop .

Life

Clemente Gaddi received the sacrament of ordination on September 18, 1926.

On June 24, 1953, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Nicosia in Sicily. The episcopal ordination donated to it on 6 September of that year Felice Bono Mini , bishop of Como ; Co- consecrators were Guglielmo Bosetti , auxiliary bishop in Brescia , and Giacomo Zaffrani , bishop of Guastalla . On July 21, 1962, Pope John XXIII called him coadjutor of the diocese of Syracuse and titular archbishop of Darnis .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Archbishop ad personam on September 25, 1963 and appointed him Bishop of the Diocese of Bergamo . There Gaddi earned the reputation of a particularly popular bishop. From 1962 to 1965 he took part in the Second Vatican Council .

On May 20, 1977, Pope Paul VI. his age-related resignation.

Clemente Gaddi died on November 7, 1993 at the age of 91. In his hometown of Mandello di Lario, the Piazza Monsignor Clemente Gaddi was named after him.
