Aristide Pirovano

Aristide Pirovano PIME (born February 22, 1915 in Erba , Como Province , Italy ; † February 3, 1997 ) was the Superior General of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions .

Life

Aristide Pirovano joined the Congregation of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions in and received on 20 December 1941, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pirovano became the Apostolic Administrator of Macapá on January 14, 1950 . On July 21, 1955, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Hadriani ad Olympum and prelates from Macapá. The Archbishop of Milan , Giovanni Montini , donated him episcopal ordination on November 13th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Kaifeng , Gaetano Pollio PIME, and the Bishop of Jixian , Mario Civelli PIME.

Pirovano resigned as prelate of Macapá on March 27, 1965. On the same day he was elected Superior General of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions. His term of office ended in 1977.

Aristide Pirovano attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
