The Diocese of Macapá ( Latin Dioecesis Macapensis , Portuguese Diocese de Macapá ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Macapa in the state of Amapá .
history
The diocese of Macapá was on February 1, 1949 by Pope Pius XII. established with the papal bull Unius Apostolicae Sedis from cessions of territory of the territorial prelature Santarém as the territorial prelature Macapá . On October 30, 1980, the territorial prelature Macapá was raised to the diocese. The diocese of Macapá is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará as a suffragan .
