Giuseppe Maritano

Giuseppe Maritano PIME (born March 18, 1915 in Cumiana , Italy , † December 27, 1992 ) was Bishop of Macapá .

Life

Giuseppe Maritano joined the Congregation of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions in and received on 6 August 1939, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 29, 1965, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the titular bishop of Castra Severiana and prelates from Macapá. The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil , Archbishop Sebastiano Baggio , donated him episcopal ordination on March 19, 1966 ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Belém do Pará , Alberto Gaudêncio Ramos , and the Superior General of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions, Bishop Aristide Pirovano PIME.

Maritano renounced the titular diocese of Castra Severiana on May 26, 1978. On March 5, 1981 he became the first bishop of Macapá as a result of the elevation of the territorial prelature Macapá to the diocese . Pope John Paul II accepted Giuseppe Maritano's resignation on August 31, 1983.
