José Nepote-Fus

José Nepote-Fus IMC (born April 25, 1893 in Mathi Canavese , Italy , † August 9, 1966 ) was an Italian religious and prelate of Roraima .

Life

José Nepote-Fu joined the Congregation of the Consolata Fathers and received on 18 December 1920, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Pius XI appointed him on September 16, 1936 prefect of Meru in Kenya. On August 7, 1948, Pope Pius XII appointed him Apostolic Administrator of the Rio Branco Territorial Prelature, established four years earlier . On April 18, 1952, he was appointed titular bishop of Helos and first canonical prelate of Rio Branco. He was ordained episcopal by the Archbishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro , Cardinal Jaime de Barros Câmara , on July 6th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Manaus , Alberto Gaudêncio Ramos , and the Archbishop of Belém do Pará , Mário de Miranda Vilas-Boas .

During his tenure, the prelature was renamed Roraima in April 1963. He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

In December 1965, Pope Paul VI took. his early resignation. He died in August of the following year.
