Pietro Guerini (born November 20, 1982 in Gazzaniga , Bergamo province ) is an Italian grass skier . He is a member of the national grass ski team of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI), is a two-time Italian champion and has won three medals at junior world championships.

Career

Pietro Guerini has already achieved countless top 10 results in World Cup races . He achieved his first podium on September 17, 2010 with third place in the giant slalom in Cesana San Sicario . With this success and another seven top 10 results, he reached sixth place in the overall World Cup of the 2010 season and thus his best overall placement to date. He had already been among the top ten in the overall World Cup several times: in 2007 he was eighth overall, in 2005 he was ninth and in 2000 and 2006 he was tenth overall.

At world championships in the general class, he was able to classify himself regularly among the top ten from 2003. At the 2003 World Championships in Castione della Presolana , he was tenth in slalom and 14th in Super-G, which he finished sixth in the combination. In 2005 he drove in Dizin in sixth place in the slalom and twelfth in the Super-G and thus reached fifth place in the combination. He finished the giant slalom in 14th place. At the 2007 World Cup in Olešnice v Orlických horách , his best result was tenth place in the Super-G. In the super combined he was twelfth and in the giant slalom he finished 14th. Top 10 places in all four competitions he achieved at the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach . He was fifth in the super combined, seventh in slalom and super-G and tenth in giant slalom. In 2009 Guerini became Italian champion in slalom and giant slalom. At the 2011 World Championships in Goldingen , Guerini was among the quickest 15 in Super Combined, Giant Slalom and Super G, but for the first time since 2001 did not achieve a top 10 placement. In the slalom, he was seventh in the first run, but was disqualified in the second run due to a goal error.

At the Junior World Championships Guerini won a total of three medals. In 2001 he was second in the giant slalom in Bursa and in 2002 in Nové Město na Moravě he finished third in the giant slalom and in the combined.
