Patriotic Protection League

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vaterländischer Schutzbund was a National Socialist organization in Austria .

It was founded in 1923 based on the Bavarian model, the name suggested by Walter Riehl . When it was founded, it was claimed that the Patriotic Protection League was intended to maintain order, and it was assumed that it could have 30,000 members in Austria. In fact, the organization had far fewer members, mostly young people, and functioned primarily as a police force for Nazi events. In 1933 the association was officially dissolved.
