Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) is a national, state-run television station in Venezuela. It was founded on August 1, 1964 as a private television company under the name Cadena Venezolana de Televisión (CVTV). In September 1974 the station was bought by the Venezuelan government and received its current name on April 8, 1976. His motto is "'El Canal de Todos los Venezolanos'" (German: the broadcaster for all Venezuelans).

The station's program content includes older cultural programs, documentaries, news and opinion programs. The latter two broadcast formats take up most of the broadcast time today (2012).

Since Hugo Chávez first won the presidential election in Venezuela in December 1998 and then consolidated his power with a new constitution, the station has been said to have been used by the government as an instrument of war against the opposition and the private media ( Venevisión , Globovisión , Televen and RCTV ) become. During the attempted coup against Hugo Chavez on April 11, 2002 , the station was switched off by the coup plotters and remained so until April 14, when Chavez returned to power.
