Hans Knauth

Hans Knauth the Elder († around 1485 ) was a knight , bailiff of Sangerhausen and feudal man of the Counts of Stolberg .

Life

In 1461, Count Heinrich zu Stolberg enfeoffed his Privy Councilor Hans Knauth and his heirs with the court and village of Ostramondra and Roldisleben .

Knauth was already in 1470 in the possession of a fief of the Counts of Stolberg. He left the Stapenberg near Benzingerode to the Himmelpforten monastery to celebrate his anniversary.

Knauth is mentioned in 1478 as a bailiff of Sangerhausen. In this function he lent Count Heinrich zu Stolberg 1000 Rhenish guilders and received the Stolberg half of Kelbra Castle as pledge on May 27, 1478 . The other half was owned by Count Heinrich von Schwarzburg. The pledge from the hands of his sons, the brothers Heinrich and Hans Knauth, was redeemed in 1486.
