The Venta del Batán in the Casa de Campo in Madrid was the traditional abode of the fighting bulls (span. Toro de lidia ) in the days before their fight ( Corrida de toros ) in the Las Ventas bullring (Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas). Here the animals could be viewed by the public. For some years now, however, a public exhibition has not been allowed due to bluetongue disease ( lengua azul ). This institution also houses the Madrid Bullfighting School ( Escuela de Tauromaquia de Madrid). Recently, the school's public subsidies have been cut.

The site is located at the Batán metro station on line 10 .
