The Association of Austrian Software Industry (VÖSI) is an interest group of Austrian software companies. Around 50 large and medium-sized software and IT service companies are organized there (as of 2019).

Association

The association was founded on June 17, 1986, the first president was Gerhard Kratky (Management Data). From 1990 to 2014 Peter Kotauczek (BEKO Holding AG) was President and had a lasting impact on the image of VÖSI. Peter Lieber (Sparx Systems Software) has been President since September 2014.

The association offers an anchoring in the IT scene for all members. Networking and the timely recognition of trends and topics are important topics within the VÖSI. The VÖSI also offers itself as a discussion platform for branch topics for its members and a qualified public.

tasks

In addition to networking and lobbying activities, a number of working groups develop positions and statements on topics that concern the industry. Working groups of the VÖSI were or are active in the following subject areas:

  • Creation of the collective agreement for IT employees
  • Stepchild Marketing in the Software Industry
  • Amendment of the Telecommunications Act (TKG 2005)
  • Billing for software license agreements

Representatives of the member companies meet in regular meetings in working groups and analyze the challenges posed by politics, business, the market and society. Depending on the task, positions, industry statements or possible solutions are shown.
