Association of Casseler Ballspielvereine

The Verband Casseler Ballspielvereine (VCB) was a local football association in the north Hessian city of Kassel . It was founded in 1903 and was incorporated into the Rheinisch-Westfälischer Spiel-Verband, later the West German Spiel-Verband , in 1906 .

history

A Central German Football Union already existed in Cassel in 1897, but nothing more was known about it. The VCB was founded on December 8, 1903 by the following six clubs: 1. FV 1895 Cassel , FV 1897 Cassel, FV Kurhessen 1893 Cassel, FC Hermes 1903 Rothenditmold, FV Hohenzollern 1903 Cassel and 1. BC Sport 1894 Cassel .

The first championship of the VCB was held in the same 1903/04 season in two divisions. All founding members, except for the 1st BC Sport, who withdrew before the start of the season, took part in the league games with their first team and reserve. First class champion was the Casseler FV 95 , which qualified directly for the second German championship finals in 1903/04 . After the associations FV Kurhessen and FC Hermes dissolved in November 1904 and FC Hohenzollern and BC Sport left the association in the same month , only two clubs with their reserves remained in the VCB. Thereupon the championship of the season 1904/05 was canceled.

In 1905 the Casseler Ballspielvereine joined the North German Football Association . In the meantime, the number of member clubs had increased to four again with the accession of FC and Teutonia, and so a new attempt was made in the 1905/06 season to play point games, this time in three classes. Since the contemporary sports press reported only two results in total, it remained unknown whether the championship was actually brought to an end.

Since the association area of the North German Football Association (NFV) was the second largest of all regional associations at the time, the Cassel clubs expressed their desire to join the Rheinisch-Westfälischer Spiel-Verband (RWSV) in 1906 . The NFV agreed, a decision that was later regretted. After lengthy discussions on the Association Day of the RWSV, the Casseler Ballspielvereine association was incorporated in 1906 and from then on belonged to the West as VI. District (Südhannover / Cassel).
