Industry description

It is estimated that there are around 2,000 insolvency administrators in Germany. Only 500 to 800 people work full-time as corporate insolvency administrators.

At the end of the 20th century, the insolvency administrator industry was still characterized by many smaller law firms or individuals who operated the bankruptcy business on the side. The restructuring of companies with hundreds, sometimes thousands or even tens of thousands of employees required the formation of appropriately specialized administrative offices. The insolvency administrator industry was therefore undergoing a profound change towards further professionalization and larger law firm structures.
