Christoph Niering

Christoph Niering (born December 16, 1962 in Cologne ) is a German lawyer and insolvency administrator . Niering is also chairman of the professional association of insolvency administrators in Germany (VID eV).

Life and accomplishments

Education and professional life

After finishing school, Niering studied law at the University of Cologne from 1982 to 1987 and at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . After completing his studies, he began a legal traineeship in 1988, which took him to Aachen , London , Speyer and Cologne, among others . Subsequently, Niering received his doctorate in 1991 at the University of Cologne.

After receiving his doctorate , Niering went to the Treuhandanstalt in Leipzig , where he worked, among other things, as the liquidator of various trust companies. Since 1992 Niering has worked as a bankruptcy and insolvency administrator, primarily for the district courts of Aachen , Bonn , Essen , Mönchengladbach and Siegen . In 1993 he moved to a Cologne law firm, initially as a salaried lawyer, and from 1996 to 2012 as a partner of the law firm. In 2004 he founded an insolvency administration GbR, which five years later merged with a law firm of other lawyers and insolvency administrators. In his more than 20 years of activity, Niering has handled around 2,000 insolvency proceedings.

Functions

In 2011 Niering was appointed chairman of the Insolvenzverwalter Deutschlands eV association for four years . V. elected. In May 2015 he was confirmed in this position for another four years at the general meeting of the professional association in Mannheim. His work focuses on ensuring the independence of insolvency administrators and further improving the quality of insolvency administration. In addition, Niering works as an expert for the German Bundestag on issues relating to insolvency law.
