Aachen is the seat of the Aachen District Court , which is responsible for the cities of Aachen, Alsdorf, Baesweiler, Herzogenrath and Würselen as well as the municipality of Roetgen in the Aachen city region.

Around 426,000 people live in the 327 km² judicial district. The Aachen Local Court is also responsible for agricultural matters in the Aachen, Eschweiler and Monschau districts. Neighboring district courts are Eschweiler , Geilenkirchen and Monschau .

Superior courts

The regional court overriding the Aachen District Court is the Aachen Regional Court , which in turn is subordinate to the Cologne Higher Regional Court .

building

The original courthouse at Kongressstrasse 11 was built in 1887–1888 based on a design by the architect and Prussian construction clerk Karl Friedrich Endell (1843–1891), who was senior construction director in the Prussian Ministry of Public Works in Berlin.
