building

From 1936 to 1993 the district court of Heinsberg was located in the building Sittarder Straße 1 , which was built in 1912 as a district office for the then district of Heinsberg . By merging with the district of Geilenkirchen on October 1, 1932, the district office was deprived of its function and became the seat of the district court in the following period. The two-storey building has nine axes with three or two-axis side risers and a mansard roof with arched dormers , an octagonal tower top with smaller, also octagonal exit turrets and a cast-iron railing. The facade is structured by sandstone blocks on the side of the risalites and the floor and eaves. The ground floor is adorned with plaster ashlars and has a three-axis side projection with a round arched central axis and a baroque side portal, with a Prussian eagle in a rectangular frame in the gable field. Arched segment windows with profiled walls are located on the first floor, while rectangular windows were installed on the ground floor. At the back there is a stairwell protruding like a risk. Inside are the originally preserved staircase, entrance door and access corridor as well as the also original banister. The building is under monument protection according to § 2DSchG .

Since 1993 the court has been housed in the Schafhausener Straße 47 building.
