history

An Eschweiler court is mentioned as early as 1555 , to which Eschweiler itself as well as Röhe , Röthgen , Bergrath and Schaufenberg (today to Alsdorf ) belonged.

In 1808 the Eschweiler Peace Court was established on the corner of “Dürener Straße / Kolpingstraße”, to its district Eschweiler itself as well as Dürwiß , Nothberg , Weisweiler from today's city of Eschweiler and also Bardenberg , Broich, Büsbach , Gressenich , Hoengen , Lamersdorf , Langerwehe and Stolberg with a total of 24,514 inhabitants belonged. From 1868 it also held periodic meetings in Stolberg. On October 1, 1879, the Eschweiler Peace Court was converted into a district court, for which a new building was built in 1880/1881 on the corner of "Marienstraße / Rosenallee". In 1907 the new building was erected on "Kaiserstraße".

Since November 7, 1961, the Eschweiler District Court has belonged to the Aachen Regional Court district and the Cologne Higher Regional Court district in accordance with Section 4 of the “Law on the Structure and Districts of Ordinary Jurisdiction” . Accordingly, Broichweiden (today part of the city of Würselen and thus the Aachen district court ), Dürwiß, Eschweiler, Hoengen (today part of the city of Alsdorf and thus the district court of Aachen), Kinzweiler (see also: Pannhaus (Kinzweiler) ), Laurenzberg and Lohn belong to the Eschweiler judicial district.

On April 1, 1973, the Stolberg District Court was added, making the Eschweiler District Court responsible for the entire Eschweiler-Stolberg area (as in 1808). Hoengen and Broichweiden came to the district of the Aachen district court.
