The places Euchen, Broich, Linden-Neusen and Weiden of the former municipality Broichweiden [ broːxˈvaɪdn̩ ] (see also Rhenish place names ) are today districts of Würselen (the places are sometimes combined to form the Broichweiden district) in the Aachen city region in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

The earliest written mention of a settlement in the area of the former municipality Broichweiden concerns the hamlet Broich (1130). From the Middle Ages and until 1798 the parish Broich with the places Broich, Birk, Euchen, Linden, Neusen, Ofden, Schleibach, Vorweiden and some hamlets belonged to the Duchy of Jülich . Weiden , part of the parish of Würselen, consisted of the small towns Weiden, Wersch, St. Jobs, Dobach and Dommerswinkel and formed the Weidener Quartier, one of seven quarters of the Aachen Empire . The imperial border and its fortifications, the Aachener Landgraben , to which the former and no longer existing watchtower Wambach belonged, ran between pastures and fore pastures .
From 1798 to 1814 all places belonged to the canton of Eschweiler in the Département de la Roer , from 1816 to the newly formed district of Aachen in Prussia . From 1806 the two parishes became parishes. In 1934 the municipality of Broich and the municipality of Weiden were merged to form the municipality of Broichweiden. On January 1, 1972, the communities of Bardenberg and Broichweiden and the city of Würselen were merged to form the new city of Würselen.

Vorweiden together with Lürken formed the Protestant parish "Vorweiden-Lürken" for many centuries. After Lürken was excavated, Vorweiden, now part of the Broichweiden community, together with the neighboring Hoengen (belonging to the town of Alsdorf) formed the evangelical parish "Hoengen-Broichweiden".

The Vorweidener "Jungenspiel Nassau" was founded in 1851.
