In 1599, the Morsbach coal mine “Gute Ley” or “ Gouley ” in the Aachen district is mentioned for the first time. At the beginning of the 19th century it was the most productive mine in the worm area , and in 1858 the Eschweiler Mining Association acquired it . In 1969 it was closed.

The Jewish cemetery of the city of Würselen is located in Morsbach . It was occupied from 1857 to 1939.

In 1973 the "Morsbacher-Siedler-Königsspiel" was one of the nine founding members of the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Würselener Jungenspiele e. V. (AWJ) ".

Sports

The Morsbacher football club is FC Sparta Würselen, founded in 1913 with the club colors "black and yellow" . Since Morsbach was the home of the miners of the Gouley colliery, the founding members were made up of “miners”. Sparta is currently playing with two senior teams.
