history

Detail view

The Gressenich mill was first mentioned in 1646 on a map of the Kornelimünster imperial abbey . In 1715 it is referred to as "Urligsmühle" on a map of the offices of Wilhelmstein and Eschweiler in the Duchy of Jülich , which refers either to its use as an oil mill or to the owner's family name.

In 1820 the Aachen district grants the milling rights to a Mr. Esser, in whose family they are to this day. At that time, a grain mill fed by the Omerbach was housed in the closed courtyard, the operation of which ceased in 1930 and the system was dismantled after the Second World War . In 1972 the Gressenich mill came from Gressenich to the city of Eschweiler .
