Association of Carnival Societies in Aachen Border Districts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Verband der Karnevalsvereine Aachener Grenzlandkreise eV , VKAG for short , is an amalgamation of around 160 carnival associations in the city region of Aachen , the Heinsberg district and parts of the Düren district ( Altkreis Jülich ). Colloquially, the abbreviation VKAG is also used to denote the association. The association is based in the city of Würselen.

With more than 160 member associations, societies and committees, in which more than 30,000 individual members are combined, the VKAG is the ninth largest regional association in the Bund Deutscher Karneval eV (BDK).

structure

The Presidium is made up of representatives from the entire association area, with each of the three districts being represented by a Vice President. This ensures that the Presidium is close to the individual member associations. The VKAG is structured as follows:

  • Executive Presidium (eleven members)
  • Advisory board to the presidium (15 members from the regions of our association)
  • Annual general meeting (annually; elections to the entire board every three years)
  • The executive committee and the advisory board form the entire board

The current president of VKAG eV is Reiner Spiertz.

The VKAG maintains the carnival on a traditionally bound basis. The regional association is the representation of the BDK in the area of the association. He advises and helps the carnival associations, maintains contacts with politics and the public. It attaches particular importance to the promotion of tournaments and carnival performances and maintains an extensive archive and museum, the KADAG, to document the carnival tradition in the association's territory. The house of the borderland carnival (KADAG) is managed by the member of the VKAG presidium Bernd Simons.

history

After the re-establishment of the BDK in 1953, the affiliated associations in the region were assigned to the Aachen Carnival Association. Since the associations that were not directly based in Aachen felt they were not sufficiently represented, the "Association of Carnival Associations in the Administrative Region of Aachen" was founded on June 30, 1956 in the city of Alsdorf by 33 associations present, which was also shortly thereafter established by the BDK Presidium was recognized as a regional association. At the urging of the "Aachen Carnival Committee" and at the "request" of the then BDK President Thomas Liessem, the association was given its current name in 1957.
