Junction box

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A junction box (also known as a junction box) provides a secure electrical connection between two (or more) cables of an electrical circuit (with a partition also 2 circuits) in single and / or multi-core design.

exam

A junction box (or installation socket) must be tested in accordance with DIN VDE 0606-1 and is subjected to the following detailed tests: Testing of the insulating parts for thermal safety, heat resistance and fire resistance; Check of rust protection; Insulation testing; Testing of protection against direct contact; Testing the degree of protection; Examination of the inscriptions; Testing of clamping points of screw terminals; Testing of mechanical security against changes in position and shape; Testing the mechanical durability of installation boxes and lids; Checking the fastening of lids; Testing the fastening of devices; Testing of concrete building boxes; Checking the size of the connecting part in one-gang junction boxes; Testing of the strain relief on cavity wall sockets and installation trunking sockets; Testing the strain relief on device connection boxes and testing the strain relief on connecting sleeves. An internal arc test is not provided.

use

A junction box (installation socket) is not a switchgear or switchgear, but is normally only used to connect and branch cables or lines for the transmission of electrical energy or the transmission of control signals. Installation sockets tested according to DIN VDE 0606-1 are, however, also approved for accommodating devices (e.g. remote installation switches).
