Crime story

The crime story is unlike the detective story , a thriller type in which the crime with its history, the reasons of the offender and the implementation of the crime is the focus.

Labelling

Internal monologue , stream of consciousness and representation of the event from the perspective of the criminal as well as the external circumstances that lead to the crime, the reader inevitably grapples with the views and feelings of the criminal. However, he cannot easily identify with him, but has to think about the problem of guilt and take a mental stand on it. The frequent lack of a happy ending can leave the reader concerned. The literary critic Richard Alewyn (1902–1979) says that the crime story " tells the story of a crime, the detective novel the story of how a crime is solved" . A crime story develops step by step from the planning and execution to the investigation. A classic example of a crime story is Truman Capote's novel In Cold Blood , which is subtitled Truthful Account of a Multiple Murder and Its Consequences .
