The Verdi Arcobaleno ( Rainbow Greens ) were an Italian green party , founded in May 1989 through the merger of part of the Democrazia Proletaria (including Mario Capanna and Edo Ronchi), some members of the Partito Radicale (including Francesco Rutelli , later mayor of Rome ) and other environmental activists.

In June 1989 they took part in the elections to the European Parliament under the name Verdi Arcobaleno per l'Europa ( Rainbow Greens for Europe ) and achieved 2.4% of the vote and 2 seats (MPs: Adelaide Aglietta and Virginio Bettini). In December 1990 they merged into the Federazione dei Verdi .
