Cross of Merit

The Cross of Merit was donated by Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands on February 20, 1941 for civil and military persons who distinguished themselves through courageous and determined behavior in hostile actions and thus acted in the interests of the fatherland .

It can also be awarded to foreigners.

Appearance

The decoration is a bronze Greek cross with the crowned initial W (Wilhelmina) in the middle, which is surrounded by a laurel wreath . On the reverse is the Dutch lion with the inscription Voor Verdienste (For Merit).

Carrying method

The cross is worn on a blue ribbon with a yellow central stripe on the left chest.

Others

A corresponding bronze Arabic number is attached to the ribbon for repeated awards.
