Cross of Merit for the years 1870/71

The Cross of Merit for the years 1870/71 was donated on May 13, 1870 by King Ludwig II of Bavaria . It could be awarded to women and men who had made a name for themselves in the service of nursing.

The medal is a gold-rimmed, silver cross. The medallion on the front is enamelled in white with a black hoop and a red cross in the middle. On the reverse, the circlet is light blue with silver inscription 1870 above and 1871 below and in the middle the initials of the donor "L", crowned by the Bavarian crown, can be seen.

The ribbon is light blue.

The decoration was worn on the left side of the chest.
