Honored energy worker of the German Democratic Republic

The honorary title of Honored Energy Worker of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a medal.

General

It was donated on January 30, 1975 and could be awarded:

  • for excellent performance in solving economic tasks in the energy industry ,
  • special merits and initiatives in socialist competition,
  • excellent performance in the scientific and technical field,
  • socialist rationalization in the energy industry and
  • for exemplary and long-term commitment in this area.

The maximum number of awards was limited to 25 carriers per year.

Appearance

The gilded medal with a diameter of 30 mm shows a stylized power station on its obverse with two gas pipelines in front of it. To the left of the power station, there is also a stylized heavy current pylon. All three symbols stand for the energy industry in the GDR, including the three-line inscription: VERDIENTER / ENERGIE / ARBEITER The lettering and symbols are all embossed in a raised manner. The reverse of the medal shows the GDR's national coat of arms.

Carrying method

The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a 25 × 14 mm fabric-covered yellow clasp with two 3 mm wide black stripes, each 3 mm away from the ribbon edges.
