Honored Master of the GDR - Certificate in DIN A3 -

The honorary title of Honored Master was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a medal and certificate. It was donated on November 1, 1953 and could be awarded to masters in economics, who were able to demonstrate outstanding successes in their special field in socialist competition, in the fulfillment of plans as well as in the implementation of scientific and technical progress. At first the maximum number of awards was limited to only 50 carriers per year, from 1959 this number rose to 100 and from 1978 even 250 awards per year were possible.

Appearance

The bronze medal with a diameter of 31.5 mm shows on its obverse a wreath of ears pointing upwards, at the upper end of which a banner is attached, which protrudes over the edge of the medal by 2 mm. The inscription: MERIT / MASTER can be read on it. Within the laurel wreath there are two ears of wheat, a hammer and a compass on a granular surface. The reverse of the medal was smooth except for the manufacturer's inscription, from 1973 this inscription was also omitted.

Carrying method

The medal was originally worn on a blue, 37 mm wide and 36 mm high pentagonal pentagonal fabric-covered clasp on the upper left side of the chest. Two vertical white strips, each 2 mm wide and 3 mm from the hem, were woven into this blue ribbon. As a result, the clasp has been subjected to several changes, so that from 1978, with the same color, it was only 18 mm wide.
