Honored metallurgist of the German Democratic Republic

The honorary title of Honored Metallurgist of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a medal. The title was donated on January 30, 1975. It was awarded for outstanding achievements in solving economic tasks in metallurgy . Also for special merits and initiatives in competition as well as in the scientific and technical field, but also in the implementation of investment projects in metallurgy and ultimately also for many years of exemplary commitment in this field. The maximum number of awards was limited to 25 honorary degrees per year.

Appearance

The gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm shows on its obverse a head of a metallurgist with a work helmet and protective goggles, looking to the right from the observer. The reverse of the medal shows the GDR's national coat of arms in the middle, which is surrounded by the inscription: DESERVED METALLURGE .

Carrying method

The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a 25 × 14 mm orange-covered ribbon. Two vertical steel-blue strips 3 mm wide are woven into it, 3 mm from the hem.
