The Storkenkopf (also Storckenkopf ) is at 1360 m above sea level the second highest mountain in the Vosges . It is located about 1400 m (as the crow flies) west of the Grand Ballon (Great Belchens) , the highest mountain in the Vosges, in the Haut-Rhin department in the French region of Grand Est ( Alsace until 2015 ). The mountain is located in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park . At the foot of the summit is at 1250 meters altitude, the Ferme auberge de Hague a typical Vosges mountain restaurant, at the department of road D 431. The international long distance path GR 5 carries on the southern flank of the summit over. The summit is close to the Route des Crêtes , which connects all the high peaks of the Vosges.
