Honored People's Policeman of the German Democratic Republic

The honorary title of Honored People's Police of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a medal. The title was donated on June 15, 1966. It was awarded to members of the People's Police for special achievements and for personal commitment to the protection of the GDR. Also for exemplary initiatives that have contributed to increasing public safety and order. The maximum number of awards was limited to 20 honorary degrees per year.

Appearance

The bronze medal, which was gold-plated, had the shape of a police star and a diameter of 33.5 mm. On her obverse, on a red enameled background, she showed the GDR's national coat of arms in gold, which was surrounded by a golden laurel wreath. The reverse of the medal shows the same wreath and the five-line inscription: FOR THE / PROTECTION OF / ARBEITER-u .- / Peasant- / POWER .

Carrying method

The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a pentagonal clasp covered in red. In this band, 3 mm from the hem, two black, red and gold stripes are woven in, which are a total of 3.5 mm wide. On the lower side of the clasp, two gilded oak leaves are placed on the left and right. These can also be found in pairs on the otherwise identical interim clasp.
