Credit limit
The credit limit is the amount of money that can be disposed of in the framework of cashless financial transactions before restricting attacks.
Credit card
The issuing bank determines a credit limit for payments with a credit card . Payments in a certain period can only be made up to this amount. Additional payments are possible with some providers if credit has been booked on the credit card beforehand.
In 2012, Deutsche Bahn equipped its BahnCard credit cards with a cash limit of EUR 2,000 / month and EUR 600 / day, for payments with an individual credit limit of, for example, EUR 800 / billing period.
Most banks can increase the credit limit on request. There are often three options: the permanent increase if the limit is not regularly sufficient, the temporary increase for a certain period, for example the vacation time, or the one-time increase if a single higher expenditure is pending.
The netbank provides a credit limit of at least 1500 EUR in the MasterCard Platinum at least 5,500 EUR to a cap to the limit of the credit facility to a maximum of 10 000 EUR at the time the initial of a MasterCard Standard.
The Santander Consumer Bank has a standard credit limit of 2,000 euros, as does the Payback VISA card. In the case of platinum credit cards, the credit card's credit limit may be unlimited.
Debit card

Overdraft facility
The overdraft facility is always tied to a current account. The requirement for the loan is a regular income. The credit limit on the current account can be used in whole or in part at any time. It is similar with repayment, small amounts or larger one-off amounts can be repaid regularly. An overdraft facility with a credit line is always a revolving loan (every sum of money that has been reimbursed is then available again).
