The Müller und Schindler publishing house was founded in 1965 by Rolf Müller together with the Schindler family. The aim was to facsimile medieval manuscripts and incunabula as well as early topographical and scientific prints. At the beginning of this work was the Nibelungenlied (handwriting C from Karlsruhe). In 2002 the publishing house was taken over by Charlotte Kramer and the publishing house moved from Stuttgart to Simbach am Inn.

In the course of time, a publishing program with facsimiles of manuscripts and early prints of different origins emerged: Tristan and Isolde, the world chronicle of Rudolf von Ems , the Gospel Book of Otto III. , the Golden Book of Gospels from Echternach, the Lambeth Apocalypse, the Pericopes Book of Henry II , the Albani Psalter , Christine de Pizan's letter to Othea, the world chronicle of Rudolf von Ems with the knitter , the Gothic Picture Bible and the marriage certificate of Empress Theophanu .

In addition to its own publishing house production, the house also realizes projects in cooperation with other publishers from home and abroad.

Kramer has also headed the Facsimile Verlag since 2017 .
