history

Alfred Ledertheil founded the company in Augsburg in 1946 as a publishing house for technology and craft , in parallel with the magazine of the same name ( Technik und Handwerk ). In 1952 he replaced this magazine with Modell-Technik und Sport , the first edition of today's Flugmodell und Technik (FMT) .

On April 1, 1956, the publishing house moved to Baden-Baden . In 1978, Alfred Ledertheil sold his publishing house to Egmont-Verlag , which eventually sold it to the WAZ newspaper group (now Funke Mediengruppe ). In 2012 the publishing house went to a private investor group and traded under the name of Verlag für Technik und Handwerk neue Medien . The traditional Baden-Baden publishing house celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2016 with a ceremony.

The publishing house moved at the end of 2018 because the existing publishing house had to be demolished and a new building had to be built. The publishing house will also move back into the new office building. The move in is planned for the end of 2020.

Subject areas

With the magazine Flugmodell und Technik (FMT) , the publisher has been making model aircraft a theme since 1952. At the end of the 1970s, the range was expanded to include various topics in RC model making . Thus in 1978 the RC car segment was added with auto-modell + technik (amt) . At the end of the 1980s, the publishing house took over responsibility for the ship's propeller , which will be integrated into the model yard from 1996 . The publisher of art and craft covered with it from from the early 1990s, all RC areas (air, boat and car). In addition, the magazine Funk was created , which for many years was aimed at amateur radio operators in Germany. With the further differentiation of the model building hobby, new special issues were published, one of which was also the basis for the TruckModell magazine .
