Meshing (nuclear power plants)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term meshing refers to the clogging of sieves in the coolant circuits when generating energy in nuclear power plants ; above all the emergency cooling systems that feed from the respective reactor sump . The sieves are clogged by fibers from floating insulation and sealing materials.

A major incident with this cause was the failure or failure of the emergency cooling system to start after the emergency shutdown of Unit II in the Swedish boiling water reactor - Barsebäck nuclear power plant on July 28, 1992.
