A vertical bar is a device for stretching gymnastics in sports halls , in which the bars are sunk into the ground when not in use. This has the advantage that the horizontal columns do not have to be dismantled and stowed in the equipment room, as is the case with a stretching system or a stretching bar.

The invention of the Versenkreck goes back to the sports scientist Hacker and was built into sports halls for many years by the Augsburger Turngerätefabrik Wallenreiter (today Wallenreiter Sportgeräte ). Such submerged stretchers are characterized by an inspection shaft through which the stretching system can be serviced at any time under the sports hall floor. Such installations were fully functional in use at least until 2010.

Due to the structurally complex maintenance manhole, since around 1970, the hacking system has no longer been built according to the hacker design, but in a closed system. The stretching systems no longer have an access shaft; instead, the horizontal columns with the complete lowering mechanism are installed in a pot tube.
