Caulking (plugging)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In construction, caulking means the introduction of a material into a joint or slot by driving it in with a hammer and chisel . In the final state, the caulking process means that the material is so tightly packed into the joint that it remains in it permanently. Both elastic (e.g. sealing tapes) and plastic (e.g. lead wool) materials can be caulked.
