Upset (psychology)

In clinical-psychological and psychiatric terminology, changes in the mood are referred to as upsets that extend into the diseased area.

You enter

  • in psychotic disorders ( psychosis ),
    • either as baseless and exaggerated cheerfulness
    • or as deep dejection,
  • as mania ,
  • than depression
  • or reactive as neurotic depression or dysthymia (= depressive neurosis = chronic form of a depressive mood that does not meet all diagnostic criteria for the full picture of depression)

In addition to the main symptom of excessively depressed or elevated mood, the following usually occur:
