Defense of the future
Defense of the Future is a word coined by Freimut Duve , the former OSCE Representative for Freedom of the Media . The political term contains an indirect rhetorical invitation. He plays with the dimensions of time as well as with the concrete and abstract. In doing so, he releases fantasy, imagination and creativity.
Conceptualization
It was first published in 2000 with the book title In Defense of our Future. Searching in the Minefield edited by Freimut Duve and Nenad Popović in connection with the wars in the former Yugoslavia . A year later, Duve published a book called U Obranu naše budućnosti , in which young citizens from the former Yugoslavia presented the vision of their future. In 2001, Freimut Duve and Heidi Tagliavini published Caucasus - Defense of the Future. 24 authors in search of peace . In the introduction Duve writes: “Defend the future! Such a call in the midst of dramatic crises to defend the future after such murderous conflicts? Are we naive, are we in the OSCE? "
In 2002 Freimut Duve and Achim Koch published the book Balkan. The Post War Youth: Defending Our Future Out. Darin Duve: “The wars in the former Yugoslavia left deep marks on the citizens of the newly created states. But what is and who is shaping the future of the next generation? Who will defend this future against the power of various pasts? "War children" are the moderators of the post-war children, young academics who fled their homeland in the middle of the war and are now discussing with the young people to defend their future together . "
Freimut Duve also spread his word creation in numerous speeches and articles.
Fund defense of our future
In 2000, Duve, in his role as OSCE Director in Vienna, founded the charitable foundation Fund Defense of Our Future . The fund commissioned the mobile.culture.container project . Freimut Duve was the chairman of the fund. Board members were the former Swiss ambassador Marianne von Grüningen , Annemarie Türk from Kulturkontakt Austria and the then Luxembourg ambassador Jacques Reuter . The board of trustees included Lieselotte Cyrus , Wolfgang Petritsch , Hans Koschnick and Dr. Erhard Busek . The curator was the Viennese lawyer Dr. Gabriel Lansky . Achim Koch was the director of the fund . After the end of the mobile.culture.container project, the fund was dissolved.
Association Defense of the Future
The Defense of the Future Association was then founded in Hamburg under the chairmanship of Freimut Duve . He mainly supports African schoolchildren and students through scholarships.
