Treaty of Easton

The Treaty of Easton was signed in North America in October 1758 between the British colonial government of the province of Pennsylvania and the Indian tribes of the Ohio Valley, including the Shawnee and Lenni Lenape .

Signed during the French and Indian War, the agreement said that the tribes of the Ohiotal would no longer fight on the French side against the British, who in return assured them that they would not establish any settlements west of the Allegheny Mountains .

The treaty was a reason for the subsequent royal proclamation of 1763 .
