Treaty for the Protection of Outer Space

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Treaty on the Protection of Outer Space is an internationally proposed treaty to ban space weapons . As part of the contract, a peacekeeping agency is to be created to monitor space and thus enforce compliance with the contract.

The contract was initiated by the Institute for Cooperation in Space (based in Vancouver, Canada) and supported by over 274 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and various Canadian politicians.

Many governments around the world, including Canada , China, and Russia , have long been calling for a space weapons ban to prevent a potential arms race in space.
