In the administrative community of Merseburg in the Saalekreis district , two communities were united to handle administrative business. The administrative community existed since 1992. In 2009 the previous member community Beuna (Geiseltal) was incorporated into the city of Merseburg . After the incorporation of Geusa into Merseburg on January 1, 2010, the administrative community was dissolved.

The administrative community had an area of ​​54.73 km² and 36908 inhabitants (December 31, 2006).
