The directory of the citizenry of the city of Bern (Burgerbuch) is the directory of the members of the civic community of Bern that has been published since 1848 .

The civic community of Bern has published the unofficial directory of the citizens of the city of Bern in Stämpfli Verlag since 1848 . The so-called Burgerbuch appeared in the following years after 1848: 1853, 1861, 1869, 1876, 1883, 1889, 1893, 1899, 1902, 1906, 1910, 1914, and every five years since 1920.

The burger book available in bookshops contains the year of birth, surname and first name, marital status, occupation and place of residence of every citizen in the city of Bern. Each family line is registered with the place of origin and the date of the encampment, as well as the affiliation to the societies ( guilds ). The editors state that they are taking into account the cantonal data protection regulations .

The burger book is often referred to as the «Toggelibibel» in parts of the citizenry.
