Degree of branching

The degree of branching of polymers indicates the effect of long-chain side arms on the size of the branched macromolecule in solution : ${\displaystyle g}$

• RMS value of the radius of gyration of a branched molecule ${\displaystyle s_{b}^{2}}$
• RMS value of an otherwise identical linear molecule with the same relative molar mass (in the same solvent and at the same temperature) ${\displaystyle s_{l}^{2}}$
