Vialone

Vialone is a medium grain rice that is used to make risotto .

The growing area is northern Italy's Po Valley . Nowadays the variety Vialone Nano (dwarf Vialone) is mainly grown commercially . The Vialone Grosso variety , also known as Vialone Gigante (Giant Vialone), no longer has any commercial significance.

Riso Nano Vialone Veronese has been a Protected Geographical Indication since 1996 .
