history

The complex was originally established as Holt's Wharf in 1910. Located in Tsim Sha Tsui ( Kowloon , Hong Kong), it initially functioned as a railway junction and was once considered one of the world's great ports. In 1971 the site was sold to New World Development , who developed the area in the 1970s and began building the New World Center and Regent Hong Kong (later InterContinental Hong Kong).

The project was completed in 1982 and also included a shopping complex, residential buildings, offices and apartments. The New World Center was considered one of the largest commercial complexes in the world at the time. The site was popular with locals and tourists and hosted numerous significant events, including the LEGO International Exhibition and the Hong Kong-Beijing Rally.

In 2010, New World Development cleared the New World Center for demolition to build a new complex. In 2012, development began on Victoria Dockside, which was named after Victoria Harbor and the former name of the location "Holt's Wharf". The master plan was drawn up and implemented by the architects Kohn Pedersen Fox and the architect James Corner . The project is led by Adrian Cheng and involves the participation of over a hundred international and local architects and designers. Completion of the quarter is expected to take place in 2019 and a. House office space, a hotel and living space.

In 2017, a 274 meter high skyscraper was completed in the area, which is called Victoria Dockside and is part of the complex.
