Victoria University's Antarctic Expeditions

The Victoria University's Antarctic Expeditions , also known as Victoria University of Wellington Antarctic Expeditions (VUWAE), are a series of expeditions to Antarctica started in 1957 by the Victoria University of Wellington with individual campaigns carried out annually in the Antarctic summer months. The aim of this series of expeditions is mainly geological, but also other scientific explorations and mapping in the area of ​​the Ross Dependency .

In the course of this work, numerous geographical objects were named. The first geological map of the Victoria Valley was created at VUWAE 1958–1959 . The scientists' headquarters are at Scott Base on Ross Island .
