Vidame d'Amiens

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vidame d'Amiens was the chief military commander of the Bishop of Amiens .

The first known officials came from the family of the Lords of Picquigny , which died out in the 14th century. The Picquigny family heiress, Marguerite, married Robert d'Ailly in 1342. Its line ended with Charlotte Eugénie, who married Honoré d'Albert († 1649) in 1620, 1621 Duke of Chaulnes , Marshal of France , who was sometimes called Chaulnes-Picquigny because of this marriage. Their eldest son, Henri Louis, held the title of Vidame d'Amiens before he succeeded his father. The heirs of the Dukes of Chaulnes also used the title, such as the 3rd Duke of Luynes for his second son Louis Auguste.
