Vidojevica

The Vidojevica astronomical station in southern Serbia is the new outstation of the Belgrade observatory . It is located on the 1150 m high Vidojevica near the town of Prokuplje . The observatory was built in the years after 2006 and has been equipped with a 60 cm Cassegrain reflecting telescope from the Austrian company Austrooptic since 2011 . The area includes small outbuildings and a residential pavilion.

At the summit itself, the 1.4 m wide was established in early 2016 Robotics - reflecting telescope "Milankovic" installed. It was funded by the EU FP7-REGPOT program and, in addition to fully automatic control of the telescope and observatory dome, also includes associated service and computer units .

As satellite data show, Vidojevica is one of the best remaining observation sites in Serbia with really dark night skies . In 2013 the “astro-climate” was examined in detail in order to sound out the possibilities of future instrumentation.
