Multi-spindle grinding machine

The multi-spindle grinding machine is an apparatus developed by Johann Heinrich August von Duncker for the more efficient production of spectacle lenses and other optical lenses.

In 1801, Duncker founded a manufacturing company for optical lenses in the optics town of Rathenow , which was also the first of its kind in all of Prussia . The development of the machine is an important basis for the development of the industrial production of optical devices in Germany. The machine was patented on March 10, 1801. Already at the end of the 18th century, after being granted the royal Prussian privilege to run an optical industry establishment in Rathenow u. a. Microscopes and binoculars.
